Patriots´ Gronkowski to miss Dolphins clash after ban is upheld

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has had his one-game suspension for a late shot on Buffalo Bills defensive back Tre'Davious White upheld.

Gronkowski, who was penalised but not ejected following the play late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 23-3 victory, had his appeal against the suspension denied on Tuesday. As a result, the 28-year-old will miss Monday's meeting with the Miami Dolphins.

White was taken to the locker room with what later was described as a concussion.

Per an official NFL release, the league's vice-president of football operations Jon Runyan wrote to Gronkowski: "Your actions were not incidental, could have been avoided and placed the opposing player at risk of serious injury."

Gronkowski expressed remorse for his actions after the match.

"I definitely want to apologise to [White]," he said via NBC Sports Boston. "I'm not in the business of that. It was a lot of frustration. I was just really frustrated and at that moment it just happened naturally through emotions and frustration."
