Joshua almost 2st heavier than Povetkin for Wembley bout

Anthony Joshua weighed in almost two stones heavier than Alexander Povetkin on the eve of their world title showdown at Wembley Stadium.

Joshua - the IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight champion - tipped the scales at 17 stones and eight pounds in London on Friday.

That meant the Englishman was four pounds heavier than he had been for his victory over Joseph Parker in March, but still lighter than his three contests prior to that fight.

Challenger Povetkin came in at a relatively modest 15st 12lb. The Russian had weighed 16st 5lb for his last fight with David Price, which took place on the undercard of the Joshua-Parker bout in Cardiff.

Joshua and Povetkin shook hands at the conclusion of their weigh-in, both men appearing relaxed ahead of Saturday's main event.

"He's going to be quick, going to be fast, so I'll put on my dancing shoes and be fast with my feet," the champion told Sky Sports.

"I'm a physical, strong guy who knows how to box."
