MLB extends Roberto Osuna´s administrative leave for third time

26 mayo 2018 02:33

The MLB extended Toronto Blue Jays closer Roberto Osuna's administrative leave through to June 4 after he was arrested and charged with assault.

Friday's announcement marks the third time the MLB has extended Osuna's leave since the All-Star was arrested earlier this month.

Osuna was originally placed on administrative leave for seven days starting on May 8 and it was extended for another seven on May 14 and May 21.

The 23-year-old is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on June 18.

Osuna remains on the restricted list and continues to receive his $5.3million salary, but is ineligible to play. However, administrative leave is not considered discipline.

Because the alleged incident falls under the umbrella of MLB's domestic violence policy, Osuna could face discipline no matter the legal status of the case.

Osuna has nine saves in 15 appearances this season with a 2.93 ERA and 1.109 WHIP. He was an All-Star last season when he was 3-4 with 39 saves and a 3.38 ERA.
