Nonu back with the Blues for 2019 Super Rugby season

13 septiembre 2018 11:28

Former New Zealand international Ma'a Nonu will be back playing in Super Rugby again next year after sealing a return to the Blues.

The experienced centre, who won 103 caps for the All Blacks, has spent the last three years at Toulon in France but has decided the time is right to return home.

It will be his third stint with the Blues, where the 36-year-old will be coached by ex-Hurricanes and New Zealand team-mate Tana Umaga.

A two-time World Cup winner, Nonu has signed a 12-month contract and could form a powerful midfield combination with Sonny Bill Williams.

"Hopefully next year will be a year to build and to be successful. That is the challenge I am looking forward to," Nonu said.

"I know the Blues have had some tough times in the last few seasons but I am excited to play with some of the young and up-and-coming players who will have long careers and rejuvenate this place.

"And I am looking forward to being under the watchful eye of Tana, who was a mentor when I was coming through, so I am looking forward to doing my best for him and the franchise."
